Encouraging Your health since 1980
Mark & Soodi Kick built the first store from an old gas station and opened its doors on August 9, 1980 at 4568 Peachtree Rd. (at the corner of Ashford-Dunwoody Rd.). Prior to Nuts ‘N Berries, Mark and Soodi worked in the field of architecture in the Los Angeles area. Much of their background with health foods comes from being on a vegetarian diet since 1969. As they pooled together the nutritional
needs of the people in this area, they saw the importance of a full spectrum of special health food diet needs, and current research and information.
On October 15, 1980 they opened a café in the office portion of the station. The café was seen as a practical way to introduce healthy wholesome foods from the store to the community. The purpose of the café is to serve samples of traditional and original dishes made with healthy foods and inspire customers to think about and live with the benefits of healthy foods.
In December of 1991, the owners purchased a property for a new building that would expand the capacity of Nuts ‘N Berries. On May 19, 1992, Nuts ‘N Berries was moved into the new facility just down the road, at 4274 Peachtree Rd., which immediately brought an increase in sales due to the increase in size.
The café is now run separately by Chef Chip and Kimberly Desormeaux. The cafe’s self-determination has led to increased growth and is bringing in the foot traffic that the store depends on.
Because of our focus on personal service and because of the ever-increasing awareness of the public that natural solutions work best, our store continues to grow well over the 15% average.
These days Mark, Soodi and the Nuts ‘N Berries team continue to offer you quality products with that local friendly attention that educates and cares for our community.
