A Crystal Collection Arrives at The Living Room
Sometimes new ideas begin with a simple conversation.
One afternoon, Nuts ’n Berries owner Mari Geier was chatting with longtime customer Troy Wells about the local gem and mineral show. During the conversation Troy casually mentioned something surprising — over the years he had built an extensive crystal collection from around the world.
Troy isn’t a professional dealer. He’s actually a real estate agent by trade, but like many collectors, his interest began with simple curiosity. One crystal led to another, and before long he had gathered a remarkable collection of minerals, stones, and crystal formations from across the globe.
As the conversation continued, a fun idea emerged.
What if the community could experience some of these pieces too?
That simple moment sparked a collaboration that now lives inside The Living Room at Nuts ’n Berries.
Today, Troy has curated a large portion of his personal collection into two beautiful display cases in the space. Visitors can now explore dozens upon dozens of crystals — from delicate clusters and polished stones to dramatic natural formations.
And yes, the pieces are available for purchase for those who feel drawn to take one home.
Why Humans Have Always Been Drawn to Crystals
Long before modern wellness trends, humans have been fascinated with crystals.
From ancient civilizations to modern collectors, people have been drawn to the colors, shapes, and mysterious way these minerals form deep within the earth. Quartz, amethyst, fluorite, calcite, and many other stones grow slowly over thousands or even millions of years, forming geometric patterns that feel almost otherworldly.
Geologists study crystals to understand the earth’s processes.
Artists admire their natural beauty.
Collectors appreciate the uniqueness of each piece.
And many cultures throughout history have believed crystals carry symbolic or energetic meaning.
Whether someone approaches crystals from a scientific, artistic, spiritual, or purely aesthetic perspective, one thing remains true:
They spark curiosity.
What You’ll Find in the Collection
The display at The Living Room includes a wide range of pieces gathered by Troy over many years of collecting.
Visitors will see:
• large natural crystal formations
• polished stones and spheres
• unique mineral specimens
• crystal jewelry and smaller pieces
• rare and unusual shapes and structures
Each shelf holds something different, and it’s common to see visitors slowly working their way through the cases, pointing things out and asking questions.
Some people come because they collect crystals themselves.
Others simply enjoy the beauty.
And many come because they’ve never really looked closely at crystals before.
What Happens When People Walk Into the Room
One of the most interesting things we’ve noticed since installing the display is how people react.
They slow down.
They look closer.
They start asking questions.
Sometimes someone will pick up a stone and say, “I don’t know why, but I really like this one.”
Whether that response is about color, texture, symbolism, or something harder to explain doesn’t really matter.
The point is that curiosity takes over.
And curiosity is something we value deeply at Nuts ’n Berries.
For over 45 years, the store has been a place where people explore new ideas about health, food, plants, and the natural world. Crystals simply add another dimension to that exploration — the mineral side of nature that most of us rarely think about.
Meet Troy
Troy Wells, the curator of the collection, is also a bit of a character — in the best possible way.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing short videos where Troy talks about some of the pieces in the display and the stories behind them. From where they were found to what first caught his attention, his enthusiasm is contagious.
You might learn something new.
Or you might just enjoy the stories.
Come See the Collection
The crystal collection can be browsed anytime Nuts ’n Berries is open and The Living Room is not hosting a class or event.
If you’re curious, stop by and take a look.
You might leave with a new appreciation for what forms beneath the earth’s surface — or even a crystal of your own.
Either way, curiosity is always welcome here.
